Malbranque double stuns City
(Sky sports)
Yet the attacking masterclass that characterised City’s Monday night victory over Aston Villa was a distant memory as Vassell and Andy Cole, making a return to his former club, struggled to make any impression on the Fulham defence.

Fulham gallop away on their trusty Steed (Independent)
Two goals from Steed Malbranque, provided by a spiky Luis Boa Morte proved decisive in a compelling match punctuated by fatal defensive errors. Indeed, it was the first time in seven months that Manchester City had conceded two goals.

Steed’s deeds stall City progress (Observer)
Malbranque, who turned down the opportunity to join City in the summer - a second offer being a cool £5million - was the cog around which an impressive Fulham revolved as they recorded a comfortable and entertaining victory.

Malbranque’s double justifies high praise (Telegraph)
Every now and again the beautiful simplicity of a pass lifts you out of your seat and thus it was when Ireland, having collected a ball played in from the left by Darius Vassell, smoothly realigned his body and a struck it instantly, with pace and perfect weighting, to Lee Croft on the right. Croft had space because the left-back, Niclas Jensen, was marginally too tucked in and the speedy City 20-year-old made excellent use of it by clipping his shot across Tony Warner into the far corner for his first Premiership goal.
