Who owns the Premiership?Updated: June 27th, 2007

As all we can do right now is wait and hope, I thought I’d kill some time by looking at the ownership of other Premiership clubs.

Despite all the recent foreign takeovers, I was surprised to find that the majority of clubs are still in British hands. As things stand, 12 Premiership clubs will be British-owned next season.

The next table gives a clearer breakdown of ownership.

It shows that 88.6% of Premiership club shares are held by 35 individuals, two families and two consortia. Fans own the vast bulk of the remaining shares, which means that around 60% of the Premiership is still in British hands.
